Teen BoysTeens in Action

A youth development program designed to support teens toward 2 main goals: high school graduation and employment. Teens meet with staff on a weekly basis to problem-solve challenges and to plan for their school and career success. Teens also participate in after-school workshops, tutoring sessions, and community-based projects. The program includes several college tours as well as occasional fun field trips. The three main components of Teens in Action are:
  • Community Service: Teens build confidence, gain connection to their community, and complete community service hours- a requirement for high school graduation in New London.
  • Academic Support: Teens will participate in academic support sessions with volunteer tutors. Staff will refer to teens' Powerschool for up-to-date information on academic strengths and challenges.
  • Work Readiness: This component is designed to prepare teens to succeed in the workplace. Teens have access to workshops that cover skills from: How to Apply for a Job, Resume-Building, Interviewing, Professional Communication, and Networking. Teens also have the opportunity, based on interest, to apply for Internships and Job Shadows.
